Fun in the Park & 5k Walk
Sunday, July 18th at 10:00am
About 40 people joined in this event, despite a deluge of rain in the morning. The boardwalk was too slippery with the rain, so the walk was rerouted through a nearby neighborhood. The afternoon included grilling out and sand volleyball – in spite of the major puddles. Several families of patients and survivors drove to join in, and it was a caring and compassionate group.
July 31, 2008: The residents of Riverfront Lofts and the In Tandem theater troupe of Milwaukee, Wisconsin held the “5after5″ event in four luxury condominiums in the theater district of downtown Milwaukee tonight. The shotgun-like affair opened five condominium units for tour with drinks, hors d’orvoures and homemade desserts. Each unit featured a discussion about sarcomas and then a short, live vignette featuring song and dance numbers from the theater’s upcoming plays. The event was attended by 160 people who took stairwells and elevators between units. A group photograph was taken in front of the building at 730 N. Plankinton Avenue after the affair, and more than 60 attendees raised their Team Sarcoma bracelets in the air. Over $8500 was raised by the end of the event, and all in attendance left with a heightened awareness regarding sarcomas.
