2010 Team Sarcoma / Spain

Jornada del Sarcoma 2010
July 24th from 11:00 am to 10:30 pm
Barcelona, Spain

About 250 people participated in this all-day conference about sarcoma on July 24th in Barcelona. The setting and weather for the event were excellent. In the morning, there was a meeting at the Hospital of the Holy Creu and Sant Paul. The AEAS and GEIS groups gave informative presentations about sarcoma introduced their organizations.

After a lunch together at the Hospital, there was an evening assembly and a tourist walk around Barcelona. At night, we had dinner in a restaurant at the Beach of the Barceloneta and deliver the AEAS’s first annual awards, to recognize sarcoma patient support and research in Spain. The winners of these three awards were:

1. Sant Pau’s Hospital, for help in the development of the Jornada del Sarcoma 2010
2. GEIS, for investigative research and support of patients
3. Dr. Ricardo Cubedo for his dedication and service of patients

At the end of the day, participants lit candles in a heart on the beach, remembered those who have left us, and expressed hope for the future. We threw two bottles with messages to the oldest social network, the sea.

A detailed program of the day can be found in the event flyer (en Español). This event was co-hosted by:

  • Hospital Sant Pau
  • Grupo Español de Investigación en Sarcomas (GEIS)
  • Asociación Española de Afectados por Sarcoma (AEAS)
