UPDATE: A Note from John Glenny - With the help of many friends, family, and neighbors we had almost 100 runners participate in the runs and 35 skaters in the skate competition. The day went as smoothly as anyone could have imagined. We had ample food and drinks donated by local businesses, and equipment and hands on assistance as well. Combining team members, participants and their friends and family, and visitors we must have had at least 300 people at the events at various times.
With an Internet fund raising campaign and additional fund raising by some of the skaters along with shirt, food, drink, and other donations, we ended up raising about $7500. The events were far and above anyone’s expectations and the day was a tribute to Ryan and a success for sarcoma research awareness and funding.

The NC Team Sarcoma organized the third annual “5K Run/Walk for a Cure” on July 13th 2008, at the Duke Golf Trail in Durham, North Carolina. There were a total of about 30 participants, including people from the towns of Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh. It was especially touching to see among the participants a young lady, who recently won her battle against Rhabdomyosarcoma, with her entire family.
Collectively, including donations from people who could not make it for the run/walk, we raised $850. Like last year, the event was very well received and we hope to make it even more successful next year.
