Party in the Park with a Special Carousel Tribute Ride

On Monday evening, July 26th, Rein in Sarcoma’s “Party in the Park” again participated as an official closing event of International Sarcoma Awareness Week. More than 1,200 people from at least eight states joined in this celebration for the entire family that raised more than $80,000 for sarcoma research!

The Party in the Park was a fun-filled evening of music, games food and hope that centers around Cafesjian’s Carousel in St. Paul’s Como Park. The first Carousel Ride of the evening began at 7:00pm and was a tribute ride reserved exclusively for sarcoma patients and survivors. Sporting their stylish blue “Sarcoma Knows No Borders” wrist bands, these riders rode in circles in solidarity with the thousands of people participating across the world in International Sarcoma Awareness week events. They symbolized to all assembled that together we can find cures for this rare and devastating illness. The Rein In Sarcoma Tribute Ride was sponsored by Fairview Health System including the University of Minnesota Medical Center- Fairview and the University of Minnesota Physicians.

The 10th Annual Rein in Sarcoma event is the primary fundraising event of the Karen Wyckoff Rein in Sarcoma Foundation, the primary sarcoma foundation in the Upper Midwest. The Party In the Park, presented this year by CVS Pharmacies, included continuous entertainment, a massive silent auction, children’s activities, the Sarcoma Garden of Hope, the Sarcoma Corner, a closing luminary ceremony, and free carousel rides on the Cafesjian’s Carrousel for all attending.

On Monday evening, July 20th, Rein in Sarcoma again participated as an official event of International Sarcoma Awareness week. The first ride of the evening on Como Park’s renowned Cafesjian’s Carousel at the 9th annual Rein in Sarcoma celebration was reserved exclusively for sarcoma patients and survivors.

Wearing the “Sarcoma knows no Borders” wrist bands, 75 sarcoma patients and survivors rode in circles in solidarity with more than 15,000 people participating across the world in International Sarcoma Awareness week events. In front of 350 cheering loved ones and supporters from throughout the upper Midwest, these riders helped raise awareness of sarcoma cancers that affect hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.

The Rein In Sarcoma (RIS) Inaugural Ride was sponsored again this year by Fairview Health System including the University of Minnesota Medical Center- Fairview. What: Triathletes for a Cure
When: Saturday, July 12, 7:00 AM – Noon
Where: Lake Nokomis in south Minneapolis

Team Sarcoma/Minnesota competed in the Life Time Fitness Triathlon, which is among the premiere sporting events in the world. Each year the LTF Triathlon draws many of the world’s best professional athletes in addition to a truly inspiring amateur field. Team Sarcoma/Minnesota also had visibility at the Expo Registration Area and on race day, increasing public awareness of sarcoma among the athletes and spectators.

What: Ride in Circles for Sarcoma
When: July 21, 2008 at 7:00PM CDT
Where: St. Paul, Minnesota

Through the inaugural carousel ride of the evening, the Karen Wyckoff Rein in Sarcoma Fund and Rein in Sarcoma 2008 will participate as a closing event of International Sarcoma Awareness week. Rein in Sarcoma 2008 at Como Park is expected to attract more than 800 people from five states in the upper Midwest. The first ride on Cafesjian’s Carousel, which is the center piece of RIS 2008, will being at 7:00pm CDT and will be reserved exclusively for sarcoma patients and survivors.

Wearing the “Sarcoma knows no Borders” wrist band, at least 68 sarcoma patients and survivors will ride in solidarity with 5,000+ people participating across the world. Sarcoma patients and survivors wanting to participate in this ride can get Carousel Inaugural Ride Tokens at the RIS 2008 Sarcoma Family Picnic that starts at 4:30 p.m.

Ride in Circles for Sarcoma. The Rein in Sarcoma 2007 on July 23 was the annual fundraising event for the Karen Wyckoff Rein in Sarcoma Foundation. As Rein in Sarcoma attendees rode in circles on Cafesjian’s Carousel on the evening of July 23rd, they joined in the unique worldwide 2007 Team Sarcoma Initiative to raise public awareness of sarcoma and raise funds to support research to find cures for sarcomas.
