Sarcoma Day at the “K” (Kauffman Stadium) with the KC Royals

Sarcoma survivors, their family and supporters gathered on Sunday, July 18 for a sultry day of summer fun at Kauffman (Royals) Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The festivities began with a pre-game tailgate party populated by sarcoma survivors wearing powder-blue event shirts and supporters sporting gray shirts and progressed to the last game of the Royals/Oakland series. 265 seats were claimed by sarcoma advocates. There were an estimated 18,702 fans in attendance at the game.

Attendees included survivors ranging in age from 4 to 80+ years, their families, supporters and medical providers. The event, sponsored by Menorah Medical Center, Dr. Howard Rosenthal & the Mid America Sarcoma Institute staff drew participants from a four-state area.

2007 Team Sarcoma / Mid-America

Mary-Elizabeth, a chondrosarcoma survivor who was on the Team Sarcoma Bike Tour in Vermont, organized a Sarcoma Family Fiesta on July 22. It took place at the TimberRidge Adventure Center in Olathe, Kansas. There was lots to do: picnicing, catch & release fishing, hiking, climbing and hula hooping.

2007 Team Sarcoma / Chris Gordon Bowl for Ewing’s Sarcoma

Bowl for Ewing’s Sarcoma. Chris Gordon organized a bowling tournament as part of the 2007 Team Sarcoma Initiative. It took place on July 21 from 2-6 PM at the Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kansas.
