Ride RAGBRAI® for Sarcoma
July 19-25th
Across the State of Iowa
Jason Reitz, an MFH survivor (Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma), and five of his friends rode the 2009 RAGBRAI® for sarcoma. RAGBRAI®, The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa®, is an annual seven-day bicycle ride across the state. Heading into its 37th year, RAGBRAI® is the longest, largest and oldest touring bicycle ride in the world.
Jason reports: Our small team of 6 headed out for the week, all equipped with SARCOMA KNOWS NO BORDERS bracelets, It was a lovely week of riding and seeing the countryside of Iowa. My story is very accessible for biking, partially because my scar is very visible on my right leg, so numerous times people asked if I had knee surgery, and then I would share my story. I decided that I would try and share my story with 10 people a day, and that was easily accomplished. No one I talked with had ever heard of sarcomas, so I think it was well worth it. It was fun to see people later in the week that I had chatted with and get to ride with them or meet some of their friends and share in the ride.
