2009 Report: Team Sarcoma / Alabama – Winfield

“Raisins for Sarcoma” and Candle-light Walk
July 18th, 20th, 22nd and 23rd in Alabama

Felicia Self provided a sarcoma information booth where there were boxes of “Raisins for Sarcoma”, “Sarcoma Knows No Borders” bracelets, Sarcoma Facts sheets, and a showing of the video/slide presentation “A Forgotten Cancer.” Donations for sarcoma research were welcomed, and 75 people contributed.

  • July 22: Wal-Mart in Hamilton, AL
  • July 23: Sherri’s Day Care in Lynn, AL

Additionally, on July 18th, twenty people gathered for a Candle-light walk at sunset at Winfield walking track.

What: Creative Hands for a Cure
When: July 18th and 19th
Where: Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Serendipity Needleworks in Tuscaloosa will graciously host a “Knit-A-Thon” on July 18th and 19th at 2113-B University Boulevard. Participants will knit or crochet chemo caps non-stop during the event. The caps will be donated to DCH Cancer Treatment Center and Children’s Hospital in Tuscaloosa. Non-knitters and crocheters who are interested in learning a new hobby may make a donation of $25 and receive a free knitting or crochet kit and on-site lesson. A silent auction featuring hand made garments, accessories, and more will round out the activities for this worthwhile cause.
