Sixty Miles for Sarcoma
July 19-23, 2010, in Cornwall, United Kingdom
Seven participants set off from Bude on Monday, 19th July, and Reached Mawgan Porth on Friday, 23rd July, after 5 days and sixty miles of walking. We saw stunning scenic views, rolling fields, crashing waves, high cliffs, streams, waterfalls and much more. Wildlife included kestrels, seals and deer. It was tough going, Cornwall being very hilly, with the aptly named “high cliff” a part of the walk.
The weather went from sunny to rainy to heavy rain and wind, with an added sea mist covering us at one point. Then the sun came out for the last couple of days, and we passed many great beaches and coves with turquiose water.
We had six walkers on the team and one driver. So far we have raised over £2,500 for the Sarcoma Trust. The walkers were Brian Lewis, Debbie Lewis, Siobhan Walker, Teresa Bull, Chris Wright and Janine Clarke. We are now planning next years walk!
The photo shows the team, joined by one team member’s son, enjoying a paddle at the end of the walk at Mawgan Porth.
