“A Night of Tumorous Comedy” To Benefit Sarcoma at the Bovine Metropolis Theater in Denver on Wednesday, July 22 was a great success! Our show got press in the Denver Post in the “Best Bets” section and an interview in an online local magazine The Examiner. We had a near-sold-out crowd and raised $920 for sarcoma research through the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. Between audience members, players, and organizers, there were 75 people in attendance.

We included a posterboard for people to write the names of loved ones they have lost and patients and survivors they’re praying for to dedicate the night to. The first half act of the show was an hour of interweaving monologues by Sara Alan (chondrosarcoma survivor), Pam Farone (skin cancer survivor), and Betsy Vajtay (brain tumor survivor). They talked honesty about life-before-tumor, their diagnoses, surgeries and recoveries. The production included voice-overs, song, music, and even a few jokes and dance breaks! There were many great moments of laughter, and a few audience members shared later that they shed some tears.

The second half of the show was tumor-free improv comedy; also garnering a wonderful positive response and lots of laughs from the audience. At the reception afterward the feedback was inspiring, and people shared their own stories and personal responses with the cast.
