Be a Superhero: Team Sarcoma 5k
A 5k run, 5k walk, and a 1k fun run
July 18, 2009 in Waco, Texas
The event was a huge success this morning! We were nearly overwhelmed with a turnout of more than 300 people, 150 of which came as walk up registrations. The races ran smoothly, and everyone had a blast. My current estimate on how much we raised is around $9000, as so many people wanted to donate during the event.
The event will take place on a course running from the Waco Suspension bridge to the Redwood Shelter facilities in Cameron park and back. The course is scenic, flat, and paved with no traffic through Cameron Park along the Brazos River.
Day-of registration will begin at 7:00 am, with the 5k run starting at 8:30 am. The 5k walk will begin at 9 am, followed by the 1k fun run at 9:15. Awards will be given to the top three finishers for each age group in the 5k run.
The fun run will be led by a energetic cast of superheroes, and there will be a costume contest held for participants that come dressed up as their favorite hero. Awards will be given out to those with the best and most creative costumes.
Online registration for this event is now available!
